im 17 years old & i absolutely LIVE 4 journaling, scrapbooking & handwritten letters. theres just something so magical about putting pen 2 paper, u kno?? like, the feeling of the ink flowing & creating something totally unique & personal... its like ur putting a piece of ur soul onto the page 4ever. no delete button, no backspace — just pure honest thoughts & memories. i think thats y im so obsessed w/ it!!
why i love what i love:
journaling — every single day i sit down w/ my leather-bound journal & write. not like, formal essays or whatevr. just stream of consciousness stuff abt my day, things that make me happy, boys i like (lol!!), dreams i have, insecurities i need 2 work thru. its like having a best friend who will listen 2 ANYTHING & never judge u. sometimes i write letters IN my journal 2 my future self. i like 2 imagine opening that journal in 20 years & seeing who i was at 17. crazy, right??
scrapbooking — oh my gosh, this is literally my FAVORITE way 2 spend a friday nite. gathering ticket stubs from movies, concert programs, pressed flowers, pretty paper, photos, washi tape, stickers... & arranging them all into these beautiful pages that tell a story. each scrapbook is like a time capsule. i have ones 4 middle school memories, one 4 summer camps, one 4 my best friends, & im currently working on my HS yearbook scrapbook (which is getting HUGE lol). the colors, the textures, the arrangement — its like visual poetry.
disposable cameras — i am OBSESSED w/ disposable cameras omg. theyre so perfect & imperfect at the same time. the colors are sometimes slightly off, theres grain, sometimes u get lens flare or weird shadows... but thats what makes them SO beautiful!! theres no filters, no fakeness. just pure authentic moments. i always bring 1-2 when im hanging out w/ friends or going somewhere special. then like a month later i get them developed & im SO EXCITED 2 see what came out. i scrapbook the best photos!
handwritten letters — i am like, that person. u kno the one. im the girl who actually WRITES letters 2 her friends instead of just texting. something abt the personal touch makes all the difference. the way my handwriting might slant slightly when im passionate abt something, or how i might doodle lil hearts & flowers in the margins. its so much more special than a quick message. i have a whole collection of stationery & wax seals!! i even have a pen pal from australia that i've been writing 2 4 2 years now.
basically, im just a girl who believes that MEMORIES MATTER. that the little moments in life — a pretty sunset, a good conversation w/ a friend, a tear u cried over something that hurt, even a boring wednesday afternoon — all deserve 2 be documented & cherished. & thats what my hobbies r all abt. creating tangible records of being alive. ✿
